Make It Count
Right now, all I want to do is RANT.
Yes, you heard me right; I wanna rant.
Rant about what exactly? Wait let me tell you.
Sometime last week, the Academic Staff blah blah blah, ASUU for short, called off the strike after 8 long months.
Finally.
To some people, it sounds like a great news.
To me, let’s just say I didn’t like the news. At all.
I’m in my final year in the university, and so a lot of my guys get surprised when they see how unbothered I was about the strike.
It’s not like I’m not tired of school already. More than anyone else, I want to leave this place.
But then, I’m going to admit that this last 8months has given me the opportunity to do things I love,
And I didn’t want that to come to an end.
So right now, I’m just in the middle of my feelings.
Well, seeing that I cannot change what has happened, I guess I just have to embrace it and move on.
A better way to view the situation is that,
In 3months or less, your boy’s gonna be a graduate. This four-turned-to-five-years journey is going to be over.
Anyways, that’s that for that.
Moving on,
From the reaction I got from last week’s newsletter, I guess that’s my favourite letter ever.
The reviews were just so mind-blowing.
Almost every conversation I had with some of my subscribers had something like “GOAT Mountain was great.”
Or “Thank you for GOAT Mountain.”
Or something else that shows that GOAT Mountain was really an interesting piece.
However, of all the reviews I got, the one that struck me the most was,
“Only few people will understand what it takes to always put out something…that’s worth the wait and time. I always look forward to Tuesdays.”
If not for hard man things, that last sentence would have brought me to tears.
You see,
The beauty of raising an audience is having people that look forward to hearing from you.
I’m on the mailing list of some of the greatest marketers to ever walk this Earth,
And I literally open my mail every day to see if they sent anything.
Most times, they’re always selling something.
But I couldn’t care less.
They’ve all been able to ‘build this bond with me’ so much that I want to always hear from them.
And so,
When I started writing this newsletter, that’s something I’ve always wanted.
People looking forward to hearing from you is a clear indication that you’re doing things right to some extent.
And from experience, I know that this is not something that comes easily.
Rather, it takes a great deal of consistency.
Not the kind that just shows up every day, but the kind that shows up with something valuable every single time.
That’s one thing I try to do every time.
I don’t just want to send something for the sake of sending out something.
No.
Instead, I always try my best to make every chance I have count.
I love it when I get to hear something like, “Your last 3rd newsletter is my all-time favourite.”
But I love it more when someone says, “Your next newsletter is my favourite.”
This is something I learnt from the people I look up to.
And this is something you too should aspire to do if you write stuff online, or you are building an online audience.
The dividend you’ll reap from it is beyond what you can ever imagine.
Capisce?
If yes,
Stay wicked.
Wait what?
In this world where there is no peace for the wicked?
Please don’t stay wicked.
Instead,
Stay jiggy.
